What is the shelf life of your products?

Tablets can be stored for up to 5 years and always yield the stated minimum level of available chlorine if stored correctly. Our expiry dates are clearly stated on packaging.

Oasis Water Purification

Can I break the water purification tablets in half and save them for use later?
The tablet has been designed to be user friendly by dissolving a whole tablet in the recommended volume of water. It is not advisable to break a tablet as it is difficult to obtain two equal parts.

How effective and safe are the Oasis Water Purification Tablets?

When added to water the tablet dissolves to release a measured dose of hypochlorous acid (free available chlorine) that is universally recognised as a safe and effective water disinfectant. The safety of the active ingredient (Sodium dichloroisocyanurate) has been evaluated by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Oasis Water Purification Tablets are NSF/ANSI Standard 60 certified, a guarantee of its safety for both short- and long-term use.

Will Oasis Water Purification Tablets colour the water and/or leave a chlorine taste afterwards?

Unlike other chemical disinfectants (i.e., iodine) Oasis Water Purification Tablets will not colour the water or leave an unpalatable taste.

Can Oasis Water Purification Tablets be used in cloudy or extremely dirty water with high levels of organic matter and turbidity?

All water to be treated with Oasis Water Purification Tablets should be clear of turbidity and colour or staining. The more sediment and/or organic matter within the water to be treated, the more chances that bacteria, viruses and cysts will be able to “hide” from the chlorine disinfectant. As excessive amounts of disinfectant react with the sediment and/or organic matter, there may not be enough disinfectant to inactivate important contaminants such as bacteria and viruses. Generally, filtering suspect water through a clean cloth or coffee filter should be sufficient.

Biospot

Are Biospot Chlorine Tablets effective against Clostridium Difficile?
Yes. Biospot Chlorine Tablets have a complete spectrum of biocidal activity. Bacteria, bacterial spores, algae, fungi, protozoa and viruses are sensitive to their effects.

Foodsaf

Are Foodsaf tablets effective against E. coli?
Yes. Foodsaf tablets will kill all known harmful bacteria including E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria.

Where do you manufacture?

Our chlorine tablets are manufactured in the UK under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment in a Medicine Licensed Factory (Authorisation number ManA 20725).

We’ve checked the NHS supplier list and there is no mention of Hydrachem on it. How do you explain this?

Hydrachem manufactures the vast majority of the tablets that are used by the NHS via several distributors. We manufacture these tablets on behalf of these distributors under their own label brands.

What is the raw material that you use?

The biocide used by Hydrachem in the manufacturing of its tablets is Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate, or NaDCC. It is chemically much more stable, and much safer to transport and handle than liquid bleach. NaDCC is used in our water purification tablets, for human consumption. It is also used in our baby bottle sterilising tablets, so in the relevant quantities and handled correctly, it is not harmful.

Tablets and finished products are tested and checked for compliance by our Quality Control Team. The manufacturing processes are developed and monitored under strict quality Standards such as ISO 9001:2008, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and British Retail Consortium (BRC) and USA Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Consumer Products Standard.
